Date:
July 2013
Deal Value:
Up to £7m

Oakley Capital Corporate Finance (“Oakley”) has advised existing client Sepura PLC (“Sepura”), a leading global provider of critical communications systems, on its strategic acquisition of applications developer Portalify OY (“Portalify”). The deal values Portalify at up to €7m including a 3 year earn-out.

The acquisition further accelerates the transformation of Sepura, led by CEO Gordon Watling, into an end-to-end provider of mission critical communications solutions including infrastructure and terminals. Based in Helsinki, Finland, Portalify provides end-to-end solutions for mobile working via a suite of software applications which increase the safety, productivity and efficiency of professional mobile radio users, across multiple communications standards.

This is the second acquisition Oakley has advised Sepura on in just over 12 months. In 2012 Oakley assisted Sepura through its acquisition of 3T (now ‘Sepura Systems’), the Austrian communications infrastructure provider which has since provided Sepura with a broader solution suite and new opportunities in the corporate market. In the past three years Sepura’s share price has more than tripled, reflecting the increased momentum in the business as its focus broadens into new product segments and new global markets.

Chris Godsmark, Joint Managing Partner of Oakley, said

“We are delighted to have helped Sepura with the Portalify process. Although the upfront consideration of €1m in cash and the assumption of circa €1m of debt is small in comparison to Sepura’s market capitalisation of £195m, Portalify provides Sepura with valuable applications skills which should offer significant revenue upside. In addition, the Portalify development skills enable Sepura to continue on its journey to bring more solutions for its customers in-house.”
